Parupu chamanthi/Toordal chutney


Ingredients:

Toordal - 1/2cup

Gratted coconut - 1/2cup

Red chilly - 3nos

Tamarind - small piece

Garlic - 1 flakes(optional)

Ginger - small piece(optional)

Salt - to taste

Preparation:

1)Heat a kadai, without oil add toordal, red chilly, garlic and giner fry till dal turns light brown

2)After it cools, grind with coconut,tamarind and salt into fine paste

Goes well with dosa, idly and kanji.

Slurpy chutney! My mom used to make as thuvaiyal.....good combo for idly and kanji.

This is a great thovayal and have heard that its good for nursing Mom's... I make this without ginger but my mixers here dont really co-operate much so never get it this thick!!! My first visit her very authentic space, shall keep coming back for more...
